Profile of our Managing Director

Khathutshelo Nethavhani (FCG)

Qualifications:

FCG, LLB (UNISA), LLM Corporate Law (UP), LLM Banking Law (UJ), ND: Administrative Management – General (TUT) And Tax Law Certificate (UCT)

After completing matric, Khathu obtained a National Diploma in Administrative Management – General from the Tshwane University of Technology (formerly Technikon Northern Gauteng). Upon completion of his first qualification, Khathu worked in the public service for 12 years. During this period, he held various positions in the corporate services departments of various institutions, including the position of corporate manager. As a corporate manager, Khathu was, inter alia, responsible for the legal services, corporate governance, labour relations, procurement and finance sections of the institution. 

While still a public servant, Khathu completed his LLB degree through the University of South Africa (UNISA). Thereafter, he completed a Master’s degree in Corporate Law at the University of Pretoria.

In addition to the above qualifications, Khathu also holds a Master's degree in Banking law and has completed the Charted Governance Institute of Southern Africa (“CGISA”) board exams. 

 

Khathu left the public service to serve his articles of clerkship and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. As  a practicing Attorney, Khathu specialises in corporate law, corporate governance, public law, commercial litigation, labour law, as well as banking law.  Khathu represents clients in various courts and fora, such as the CCMA, Bargaining Councils and the Companies Tribunal.    

 

Khathu is a fellow of the CGISA and currently serves on the Technical Committee of the CGISA. 

 

Khathu regularly writes articles which are published in print media on topics relating to corporate governance, corporate law, banking law and financial regulation. He also frequently presents at seminars arranged by the CGISA on the same matters/topics.  

He is also a member of the Thought Leadership Committee of the Chartered
Governance Institute, the global governance professionals organisation to which CGISA is affiliated.

Khathu has been cited as an authority in a number of Master’s dissertations and Doctoral
thesis from various Universities.

Banking and Financial Law
